How to Download the Budget
Open your Project: Navigate to the specific project whose budget you want to download.
Go to the Budget page: Click Budget in the left-hand project navigation menu.
Click Download: In the top right corner of the Budget page, click the Download button.
Choose a file type: Select CSV or Excel from the dropdown. Your browser will automatically begin downloading the file to your local device.
What's Included in the Budget
The Budget page gives you the full financial picture of a project, not just the price you quoted. For each line item, the download includes:
Estimate: The original amount from the project's estimate.
Changes: A running log of any change orders applied to that item.
Current: The estimate amount plus any changes — the up-to-date budgeted amount.
Invoiced: The amount you've invoiced the client for that item.
Billed: The amount billed to you by subcontractors or vendors for that item.
Balance: What's left, based on the current amount versus what's been invoiced and billed.
Budget vs. Estimate: What's the Difference?
The Estimate is the standalone document you send to your client to price the job. The Budget builds on top of the estimate — it adds change orders, invoicing, and bills to show the full financial status of the project as it's actually being built.
In short: if you need the number you quoted the client, download the Estimate. If you need the full picture of estimate + changes + what's been invoiced and billed, download the Budget.
FAQs
I actually need to download the Estimate, not the Budget — how do I do that? There are two ways:
Go to the Estimate page, click Options in the top right, and select Download CSV.
Go to Preview and Send. From there you can click Send to email a copy directly to your client, or click the down-arrow Download icon to save it as a PDF.
Can I choose which sections of the Budget to download? The download includes all budget categories and line items shown on the Budget page.
Does downloading the Budget affect the live data in the project? No. Downloading is a read-only action and does not change any figures in your project.
