Timecards/Time Clock

Keep track of hours worked by employees against projects and line items.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

The timecards and time clock feature allow you to record time spent by you and your employees on various projects down to the individual line items within the project. You can also:

  • Edit incorrect punches.

  • Approve the timecards.

  • Report injuries on-shifts.

  • Split shifts across multiple projects & line items for granular time tracking.

Prerequisites & Settings

Create staff

While you can personally use the time clock feature for tracking your own hours, most often you'll want to keep track of your employees time. This is especially helpful when you want to ensure your labor spend aligns with your estimates.

To configure your employees and roles, visit 'Staff' from the 'People' menu in KonstructIQ. Check out this article for detailed information: User Roles

Configure Job Types (Optional)

Job Types allow you to configure the wage rate you'll pay your staff for specific types of work. For example electrical may pay differently than plumbing or demolition. In this case you can configure a Job Type for each of those categories. This way, when time cards are recorded, each shift is paid at the correct rate for the job.

  1. Navigate to Settings, then select 'Job Types'

  2. Click the 'Create' button to add a job type.

  3. Enter a name for the job type, i.e.: "Electrical" and a Wage Rate

  4. Optionally: Assign the Job Type to staff members who are able to perform this work

Viewing & Managing Employee Time Cards

To view employee timecards, navigate to Settings then click 'Timecards'.

  • Click or tap on the arrow next to a timecard to see the shifts contained in that timecard.

  • Click or tap on the timecard row will allow you to view and modify the timecard, such as when the employee missed a punch or needs some other adjustment made.

Using the Time Clock

To access timecards, enter a project, then click 'Timecards' on the main menu.

Staff Clock In

  4. Click 'Clock In' at the bottom of the screen to save it.

Staff Clock Out

  3. Optional: Click 'Split Shift to start a new shift or when switching between projects and/or line-items within a project.

  4. Click 'Submit' at the bottom of the screen to save save the changes.

To Report an Injury

On a shift within the timecard you may click 'Report Injury' which enables a text box for you to document an injury that occurred on the shift. This is for your own records and is not a reporting tool for workers comp or other official channels.
